In order for a content reuse strategy to be successful, it is important that your content authors write modular content that is suitable for reuse. For authors who are new to reuse, this task is often easier said than done.

Pamela Kostur of Parallax Communications has written a series of outstanding articles that talk about the challenges of authoring reusable content. In addition, she outlines a practical strategy for how to convert your existing legacy content into a format that is more suitable for reuse.

Earlier this week at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference (PDC), Microsoft announced plans to deliver the next generation of Office applications (Office 14) through your web browser. These web-based Office applications will be lightweight versions of their more robust client counterparts.

As part of the next release of Office, we're announcing that Microsoft will deliver Office Web applications – lightweight versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote – through a browser. With these new applications, people can use a browser to create, edit, and collaborate on Office documents. What's great is that this provides a consistent Office experience when and where our customers want it, regardless of whether they are accessing their Office documents through the PC, phone, or browser.
